Meet Our Office Administrator: Bethany Mobbs
We have yet another new addition to our team - Bethany Mobbs! Bethany will be helping with the day to day organization and operational needs of our office space, which we are so grateful for. Join us in welcoming Bethany to the SCS team!
Tell us about your family.
I recently married my husband, Chase Mobbs. We met at Samford University in their Global Missions Scholars Program. I also have an older brother and three little sisters!
Do you have any hobbies or interests?
I love being outside. Whether it’s running, hiking, or any kind of sports, I am always down for an outdoor activity. I also love cooking, board games, and traveling!
Favorite Birmingham restaurant?
Los Valedores! My husband and I go there every Sunday after church, and we are obsessed with their tacos (the steak are my favorite)!
Where did you go to school?
I’m currently finishing my undergraduate degree at Samford University, and I’ll be applying to Occupational Therapy graduate schools this fall!
What sparked your interest in occupational therapy?
My little sister has a rare gene disorder, so I was around therapists most of my childhood. I witnessed her growth and improvements from therapy sessions. In tenth grade, my dad received a Fulbright Scholarship to work at a university in Nairobi, Kenya for a year. In Kenya, I saw the lack of access to proper healthcare, especially for people with disabilities, and the stigma surrounding disabilities. I believe that God has created every person intentionally and uniquely to bear His Image, so this broke my heart. I wanted to do something about it, so I started exploring therapy and advocacy options. I landed on occupational therapy because it’s so flexible and fun!
What are you most excited for in working at Steel City Speech?
I’m most excited about working with an incredible staff of talented therapists who love the Lord and the people they work with!
