We are so excited to continue expanding our occupational therapy team with the addition of Kendall Frame, M.S., OTR/L! Kendall earned her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of South Alabama in 2019. We are so excited to have you, Kendall!
Tell us about your family.
I have been married for 6 years to my college sweetheart, Elijah. We have one son together. Our son is 1 1/2 years old.
Family is a huge part of our lives, we are close to both sides of our families. I am an aunt to 16 nieces and nephews, so there is ALWAYS something going on between both sides of our families.
Do you have any hobbies or interests?
Yes, I love to spend time with family and traveling! My family has been to several places including Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, and Japan. We have been able to take our son with us to Austria and Japan! We are always planning and scheming where we want to go next.
Favorite Birmingham restaurant?
This is SOO hard. There are so many yummy places. I’ll narrow it down to 3 places: Automatic Seafood, East West, and Craft Burgers
Where did you go to school?
I went to University of South Alabama for my master in occupational therapy! I graduated in 2019! GO JAGS!
What made you want to be an OT?
I am the recipient of many hours of therapy, I primarily received speech therapy. I had to get pulled out of school for sessions and have sessions during the summer. I understand the HARD work these children go through to progress to their goals. The therapists I worked with encouraged me, pushed me, and provided me tools to help me get closer to my goals.
I want to be able to meet where each child and their family are at in their journey. I want to be able to provide tools for your child and family that will progress towards their goals.
What's your favorite aspect of being an OT?
Watching my clients begin to achieve a goal that they have been working so hard on and to be able to witness watching my clients excitedly showing their caregiver(s) about a skill that they could not do before, such as tying their shoes or showing off their handwriting!
What are your favorite resources for learning more about occupational therapy?
The OT Toolbox (www.theottoolbox.com) - this website is one of the easier to navigate through to learn about all the different skills that OT can work on.
I personally like referring books to families as well!
What's the one thing you wish parents knew about occupational therapy?
OT is there to support families to optimize their child’s success in the home and school environment. We look at skills that are impending their success, and collaborate with the family to support their child in their journey.
