Tell us about your family.

I have been married to my husband, Trent, for almost ten years. He is a high school teacher and basketball coach. We are both from Birmingham, and we currently live in Bluff Park. We have a 6 year old daughter, a 4 year old son, and a 6 month old daughter.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

I love to read and to bake. I love going on walks with friends. I enjoy all things interior design. My husband has somehow managed to turn me into a basketball fan over the last ten years as well!

Favorite Birmingham restaurant?

Chez Fonfon. It's hard to beat their Hamburger Fonfon and a piece of coconut cake.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in Social Work.

Tell us about your professional career so far.

Immediately after graduating I began working at IMPACT Family Counseling as a social worker. I then went to work in an office administrator role at an OBGYN office at St. Vincent's Hospital. For the last six years I have stayed home with our children, and I have loved every minute of it.

Why do you think speech and language therapy is important?

Speech and language development is crucial to the way a child learns to understand and communicate with others. I think speech and language therapy gives children confidence in the way they develop social skills and form friendships with their peers. I'm constantly amazed at all the different ways speech therapists are able to boost a child's self esteem and help them make more sense of the world around them.
